The long ridge of the Kerio Valley, over 100 km long, is able to satisfy the needs of all pilots: from lovers of peaceful dynamic flights in the early morning and/or afternoon hours, to cross-country addicts, in search of setting new records. A typical day begins with launch at 7:30 in dynamic lift. By 9:00 the local wind shifts to become more easterly and the first thermals appear. By 10:30 the wind becomes east-north-easterly and conditions start to be stronger due to the thermic activity. By 16:00 the wind begins to drop, conditions become smoother and often, as the escarpment begins to cast a shadow into the hot Kerio Valleys some 1300 meters below, this creates a lovely restitution (glass-off) and it is possible to get really high.

The Destination

Kenya’s Kerio Valley is located in the eastern side of the Rift Valley, about 300 km from the capital city of Nairobi, and is considered by many as the cradle of the human species. Thanks to its orographic peculiarities, the indescribable beauty of the area and, in particular, the welcoming local population, this area has become one of the main and most sought-after worldwide flight destinations. Hundreds of pilots visit the Kerio Valley in the spectacular month of January, when it is possible to fly every day Our starting place is only 50 meters away from the Hotel Kerio View. The official landing place is 20 minutes by motorbike to the hotel but most of the landings will be near the take-off, making it an easy walk back home. Sometimes it also happens that you can land somewhere out, far from the take-off. But this is no problem - Kenyans are very friendly and they help you to come back to your place! We will provide our pilots with a memorandum including all the most important info to arrange your trip in the best possible way!

This trip is focused mostly on cross country flights. The essential criterion for participation is a balanced approach to your experience. We believe this is the only way to progress quickly and in total safety. The pilots are supported by our expert guide, who will analyze weather conditions, plan the flight tracks and deliver evening debriefings. The later will allow pilots to improve future flights in maximum safety. Despite the ease of flying more kilometers than in other places, the valley presents numerous challenges that over the years have induced many pilots to rely on us for our professional and efficient support. An expertise that has grown thanks also to the collaboration with our hotel, which provides all kinds of assistance if needed.

Daily schedulle

We can start as early as 7:30 in dynamic lift. At around 9:00 the conditions start to be suitable for the first thermals and by 10:30 the wind becomes strong due to thermic activity that settles, allowing for some aerial action. This is the right time for some challenging cross-country! Later in the afternoon, as the wind begins to drop, you will find the most amazing restitution and it will be the right time for a glass-off flight where you will be able to climb as high as 5,000m! allowing to fly deep into the valley, as far as lake Kamnarok and back.

Accommodation

We'll stay in a local hotel, "Kerio View" hotel, with really high quality standards. The location is just at a stones' throw from the take-off, meaning you will be always on the right spot, at the right time! The package is set to a shared triple room but it is possible to arrange different options such as single and double rooms.

I have been organizing paragliding adventures all over the world since 2012. Before this adventure, I got my degree in International Studies, after which I worked for an outdoorsports company in Ireland (Extreme Ireland), where I flew all over the country. Thanks to my flying buddies and partner Leone Antonio Pascale (a Red Bull X-Alps and PWC competitor) and his broad paragliding experience, we organized our first tour in Kenya/Kerio Valley and it, immediately, was a real success! Since then we are organizing tours in India, Morocco, Austria, Spain, Nepal... Born as an adventurer, I've been always attracted by travelling, meeting other cultures and the peace of mind it brings. This curiosity and passion gives me the opportunity to meet all of your expectations.
