Year after year a large number of pilots break their own personal records flying from Quixadá. This is the place with the biggest amount of flights over 400km, considered by most of the pilots as the best place in the world for long cross country flights.

Our flying arena is a dry flatland area with strong thermals. The Trade winds blow constantly from the same direction making it a reliable place for XC. The flights can start as early as 7 a.m. and cloudbase rises gradually to 3000m+. After a low start in soft conditions, the endless cloudstreets will mark your way to set your new personal best as the day grows stronger and the updrafts will keep you high above the stunning landscape.

The Destination

This aerial experience takes place in Ceará, a state in northeast Brazil. Our base will be Quixadá, a big city nearby where you will find all the commodities - Brazilian style. The flying arena is a remote area but there is always someone to assist you once you land. The local population is very friendly and will probably invite you to their humble homes, and offer you a cold drink.

The Experience

Our experienced crew will be at your service to help you in the best way possible. Our preparation begins months before the trip and each phase of the adventure is carefully designed. We'll share with you our extensive knowledge about flying long distances.

There will be an assistant on take-off to help you on this crucial stage: due to strong winds, local expertise is needed in order to get you airborne safely. Once in the air, we will be tracking you via SPOT and follow your path, giving wind reports from the ground and other general information. The retrieve bus will reach you soon after you land, taking you back home for another day of excellent flying.

Other Activities

On the unlikely event of a non-flyable day we will head to Canoa Quebrada beach, one of the most beautiful places on these shores, where you can enjoy some easy soaring or just relax on the beach.

Arrival & Departure

Our team will meet you at Fortaleza airport and take you to Quixadá on a private bus.

You should book a private shuttle if your arrival/departure is scheduled for different days. The shuttle time is subject of change in order to meet the airport schedules.

Accommodation

Vale das Pedras is a 4-star Hotel with the most complete infrastructure of Quixadá city. It's located only 5min from the downtown and 15min from the Santuário takeoff. The hotel's facilities includes a pool for relaxing during in the non-flyable days, an all-you-can-eat restaurant where you can try the typical brazilian food (like churrasco, feijoada, fafora, etc) and a wide area where you can open your gear and make your checks if needed.
